Privacy Policy

App: OwnGym (Android) · Effective date: 17 October 2026

OwnGym is a gym log that works offline. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the OwnGym app and this website. “We” means the developer of OwnGym, as listed on OwnGym’s Google Play page.

The short version

  • Your profile, workouts and body measurements are stored only on your phone. We never receive them.
  • No account is required. No ads, no advertising ID, no analytics or tracking.
  • If crash reporting is on (you can switch it off at any time), technical crash details are sent to our error-monitoring provider, Sentry. They never include your workouts, body data or notes.
  • Once a day the app checks whether an update or announcement is available. No personal data is sent or stored.

Information stored on your device

When you use OwnGym, you may enter:

  • Profile: nickname, body model (male or female), date of birth, height and weight.
  • Training data: workouts, exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, durations, effort ratings, notes, routines and personal records.
  • Body data: bodyweight entries and body measurements.
  • Other: achievements, settings, and photos or videos you attach to exercises.

This information is used only to run the app’s features, such as your 3D body model, recovery estimates, statistics and suggestions. It is stored in the app’s private storage on your device. We have no access to it.

Backups you control

  • Android backup: if backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include a copy of OwnGym’s data in the backup kept in your Google Account. Google provides and handles this under its own privacy policy, and it lets you restore your data after reinstalling or on a new phone. You can turn it off in Android settings.
  • Export files: you can export your data to a file or folder you choose. Those files are entirely under your control.
  • Keeping data on uninstall: on Android 10 and later, the system may offer to keep the app’s data when you uninstall it.

Crash reports (Sentry)

Crash reporting is on by default and can be switched off during setup or later in Settings → Privacy. When it is on and the app crashes or hits a serious error, a report is sent to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), which processes it on our behalf.

A crash report contains:

  • technical error details (such as a stack trace);
  • app version, device model and manufacturer, Android version, screen and memory information;
  • the time of the error;
  • a random identifier created by the app that is not linked to your identity.

A crash report does not contain your name, workouts, body data, notes, photos, email address or location. We configure Sentry not to store IP addresses. Reports are used only to find and fix problems and are deleted automatically within 90 days. See Sentry’s privacy policy.

Update and announcement check

Once a day, and when you open the app, OwnGym:

  • asks Google Play whether a newer version is available (Google Play’s in-app updates service); and
  • downloads a short list of announcements from our server, hosted by Cloudflare. The request contains only the app version and language.

As with any internet request, Cloudflare sees your IP address in order to deliver the response. We do not store it or use it to identify you.

Notifications

Workout reminders, the rest timer and update notices are created on your device. OwnGym does not use a push-notification service.

What we do not do

  • No account, sign-in or profile on our servers.
  • No ads, no advertising ID, no analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of personal data.
  • No access to your location, contacts, camera or microphone.

Permissions

Permission Why
Notifications Workout reminder, rest timer, update notices
Physical activity (optional) Keeps the workout timer running reliably while the app is in the background
Alarms & reminders (optional) Exact timing for rest-timer alerts and reminders
Internet Crash reports (if enabled) and the daily update check
Run at startup Restores reminders and an active workout after your phone restarts
Vibration Haptic feedback and timer alerts

Children

OwnGym is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your choices and rights

  • Switch off crash reporting in Settings → Privacy.
  • Delete all app data in Settings → Data & Backup → Delete everything, or by uninstalling the app.
  • Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, India’s DPDP Act or California’s CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because crash reports aren’t linked to your identity, we usually cannot find reports that came from you, but contact us and we will help where we can.

Security

On-device data is protected by Android’s app sandbox. Crash reports and update checks are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. Fonts are served from this site. Cloudflare may process technical request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
